ABERAVON QUINS   55        MAESTEG CELTIC 13

The heavyweight Celtic pack gave the home eight a heap of trouble in the opening quarter forcing the Quins onto the defensive. For the first time this season a Quins front row had to be content with second best in the scrums. Lewis Hill put the Celts ahead with a penalty which was equalled in like fashion by Scott Roberts.
A Celtic attack foundered deep in Quins territory and winger Rhys Edmunds sprinted clear up the touchline great support from scrum half Owen Kennerley and centre Callum Handford put lock Callum Beynon away on a spectacular sprint to score, Roberts converted. The Celtic pack continued to pummel the Quins but the home defence was magnificent and any Celt that escaped the iron grip  of the pack were mowed down by centres Hibbard and Hanford with fly half Lewis Cronin on hand to clear the ball up-field.
Quins stretched their lead through a Cronin kick ahead and human dynamo hooker Tyler Hopkins caused panic in the defence and Beynon crossed for his second try
Beynon completed his hattrick after a spectacular counter attack by Roberts
Early in the second half the celts still poured on the power and Hill cut the deficit with another penalty. A series of penalties took play to the Quins line and Turner forced his way over for a try converted by Hill.
With twenty minutes left it was still anyone’s game but the visitors looked to be tiring as Dylan Maclachlan battered his way forward with Matt Saker also carrying well. Owen Kennerley then broke smartly and Roberts put Drew Kinsey over, Roberts converted.  Roberts then converted his own try after clever footwork by Edmunds. Morgan Hibbard burst through would be tacklers and replacement Morgan Kennerley smartly put Kinsey in for his second
Cronin then sliced through and Owen Kennerley crossed for Roberts to improve as he did when Handford spreadeagled the defence and Elliott Graham sprinted in to score
