Ystradgynlais 15 Aberavon Quins 8

The Quins dropped to second place in division 2 West Central due to this defeat at the hands of Ystradgynlais. Ystrad were forced to defend in the early stages as strong runs from Gareth Pugh and James Peploe-Williams threatened. Marc Sheppard hit an upright with a penalty shot. The home side shocked the Quins with a quickly taken penalty and some good support running put Alex Davies over for a corner try converted by Emyr Lawrence. The Quins swept back to the attack with good running from Dan Morgan, and Gareth Pugh failing through lack of support. Strong forward play from Callum Beynon, Craig Cox and Adam Dawe gave the Quins backs a chance and centre Jack Dacey was hauled down close to the line but co-centre Dean Scully gathered and dived over for an unconverted try. Ystrad stretched their lead with a well taken try from No.8 Llewellyn  to make it 12-5 at half-time

The Quins pack totally dominated the second half but much of their driving play ended in penalties which gave the game a stop start nature. The Quins eight, several times had their opponents in dire trouble in the scrums but mysteriously were penalised. A very rare incursion into Quins territory resulted in an almost inevitable penalty in front of the posts which Lawrence goaled. Sheppard closed the gap with a penalty and as the Quins pounded the line with Cox, O'Callaghan and Kyle Williams going close but their only reward was to be penalised. Ystrad won because they took the only two chances they had while the Quins let slip at least a half dozen.

Better news from the Development XV who accounted for Glynneath 45-7 where David Morley made a twenty point haul scoring two tries and five conversions. Ben Evans, Jake Price, Sam Richards and Guy Entwhistle shared the other tries.
